Stitches was rolling around and kneading when I brushed him…. he is dropping a large amount of hair. Did not notice any fur-mites but might have ear mites because he kept scratching his ear.

Rushed the Block *45 cat to the vet this morning because of the bleeding and bruises… but she seems okay…. bright, active and eating well.

Had to release him yesterday afternoon to make space for a cat with flu. Muddy is still not back to his old self… walks slowly and eats slowly. Sad to see him like that. He didn’t come running at feeding time last night but at least I found him and he ate some fancy feast. Searched for him twice this afternoon and finally found him sitting at the car park…. he went back into the drain after eating.
Muddy used to sleep in front of a ground-floor unit at *02 now he doesn’t go there anymore. Was he chased away?
Be smart and stay safe, Muddy!!!
Yesterday a feeding auntie called to say that someone saw a black-and-white cat at blk *26 foaming at the mouth and fur all wet… it went into the drain. I searched several times but couldn’t find the cat. Later Jacky was missing at feeding time and also Dirty Harry but he is not a regular…
I feel so useless and helpless… unable to protect them!
The gum is inflamed but there is also yellowish nasal discharge… which means he has flu.
Dr. Kenneth gave him two injections and I will start him on Zithromax tomorrow night. Stitch has good appetite but I will have to control his food because he is difficult to medicate.
They were greeting each other in a very affectionate way π This young nameless tipped-ear boy had been moving around the area…probably chased by the others. I am glad they found each other.

You Dun Cao
Ivy got this for my Ashley. He took the liquid by syringe and also didn’t mind the pounded herb in his food.
She also gave me some seeds of another plant ce qian cao (wu gan cao) which is also used as a diuretic.

The Aunty had managed to get all the kittens adopted… but no takers for the mother, although she is young and very sweet. The mother was then released back to the street.
We suspect that she was hit by a car. She walks very slowly with a limp (hind leg) and hunches her back when walking. She looks bright and alert and the Aunty says that she is eating a little. Hope no internal injuries! Gave the Aunty Clavulox and told her to observe and bring to the vet for x-rays and tests if no improvement or getting worse…

This young female is from Area 3 Blk *45. Sylvia caught her this morning and I collected her from the Feeding Aunty in the afternoon. Aunty said that she was very noisy… but so far she seems to be quiet. She will be sterilised tomorrow.
I think Muddy is still constipated…

I was worried because he had not defecated since I brought him in 4 days ago. Have been syringe-feeding him a whole can of Avoderm every day and also gave him some oily Liver-Chicken Feast with added wheat grass for fiber. Today I was thinking of giving him an enema and smsed Ivy to help me hold him down…
Muddy must have sensed that I am up to something unpleasant… a few minutes later there was poo in the litter tray π
Will probably release him in 3 days time.
Saw a Sheng Siong outlet in my neighbourhood and went in to see how the “food animals” such as life fish and frogs are being treated at this store. Didn’t see any frogs and the tanks holding life fish seemed not to be overcrowded…. but then I saw this fish (in the centre of the photo) still flapping about and gasping for air. The smiles of the sales staff told me that this is simply the way it’s done…
I have a poem for you. This poem is about three of us.
The first is a twelve-year-old girl, one of the boat people crossing the Gulf of Siam. She was raped by a sea pirate, and after that she threw herself into the sea. The second person is the sea pirate, who was born in a remote village in Thailand. And the third person is me. I was very angry, of course. But I could not take sides against the sea pirate. If I could have, it would have been easier, but I couldn’t. I realized that if I had been born in his village and had lived a similar life – economic, educational, and so on – it is likely that I would now be that sea pirate. So it is not easy to take sides.
Out of suffering, I wrote this poem. It is called “Please Call Me by My True Names,” because I have many names, and when you call me by any of them, I have to say, βYes.β?
Please Call Me by My True Names
Donβt say that I will depart tomorrow —
even today I am still arriving.
Look deeply: every second I am arriving
to be a bud on a Spring branch,
to be a tiny bird, with still-fragile wings,
learning to sing in my new nest,
to be a caterpillar in the heart of a flower,
to be a jewel hiding itself in a stone.
I still arrive, in order to laugh and to cry,
to fear and to hope.
The rhythm of my heart is the birth and death
of all that is alive.
I am the mayfly metamorphosing
on the surface of the river.
And I am the bird
that swoops down to swallow the mayfly.
I am the frog swimming happily
in the clear water of a pond.
And I am the grass-snake
that silently feeds itself on the frog.
I am the child in Uganda, all skin and bones,
my legs as thin as bamboo sticks.
And I am the arms merchant,
selling deadly weapons to Uganda.
I am the twelve-year-old girl,
refugee on a small boat,
who throws herself into the ocean
after being raped by a sea pirate.
And I am the pirate,
my heart not yet capable
of seeing and loving.
I am a member of the politburo,
with plenty of power in my hands.
And I am the man who has to pay
his “debt of blood” to my people
dying slowly in a forced-labor camp.
My joy is like Spring, so warm
it makes flowers bloom all over the Earth.
My pain is like a river of tears,
so vast it fills the four oceans.
Please call me by my true names,
so I can hear all my cries and my laughter at once,
so I can see that my joy and pain are one.
Please call me by my true names,
so I can wake up,
and so the door of my heart
can be left open,
the door of compassion.

Mind and Reality
All that we are is the result of what we have thought.
The mind is everything.

All matter originates and exists only
By virtue of a forceβ¦
We must assume behind this force
The existence of a conscious and
Intelligent Mind. This Mind
Is the matrix of all matter

Muddy is a good boy! Some growling and hissing… but he swallows the syringed food and the antibiotics and also let me wash his eyes and apply ointment. He even ate a little on his own today. He is also less dehydrated now.
I transferred him to the storeroom so that he can be more comfortable in the bigger cage (it’s a large storeroom and with windows).
Blaine feels warm and has no appetite.. Ivy is worried. He could have caught the virus from Muddy…
Eyes watery, dehydrated, fever, runny nose, lost weight… looks like a bad case of flu!
I had already given up hope… and almost didn’t notice him sitting at the curb next to the bin center.
Perhaps she was chased off by Beauty, Frosty, Snoopy or Nora… Now she seems to have settled at a corner of *24…. but this is very close to Rocky’s territory.
Ivy sent pictures of Blaine Long Long….
Three jars have been filled up, mostly with orange and lemon peels and other fruit skins. The enzymes should be ready in 3 months time. The pulp can then be added to the next batch.

Blaine didn’t come regularly for feeding and he was scared of Muddy, even Darly and Darky would hiss at him. Then he went missing for more than 2 weeks.
It turned out that he had moved to Ivy’s area. We will leave him there unless he chooses to return.
Muddy has been missing for 3 days…

I was looking for missing Heino and asked a Malay feeder…
She said “mati!”. Probably hit by a car.
There was a beautiful golden full-moon in the black sky yesterday… it reminded me of Heino.
Is he watching over his little friend Kitkat?

Timmy has a tail injury. The lower part of his tail was quite limp for the past few days but today it’s much better. I think I overdid the powder a little π
Twisty was already tipped when she appeared in Timmy & Tommy’s area. She is no longer skinny… in fact she looks heavily pregnant π
It started with gum infection, then 3 days ago she developed red eye and some coughing. Have Isolated her from the other cats (in my bedroom) and giving her Zithromax and applying eye-gel. Also syringe-feeding to keep her strong. Nushi still eats some of her favourite food and snacks. She doesn’t look too bad but of course I worry…
Shiny’s wound has opened up a little. The stitches must have dissolved but the wound is not properly healed yet. I will wait and observe… hope it doesn’t have to be re-stitched. Meanwhile giving her Clavulox and antibiotic powder.
Decided to shift Rocky to the balcony. Billy Boy, Mango, Orange and Peaches were fine with it and Rocky kept quiet so far.
Later transferred Shiny as well, so that she has company and can enjoy the coolness and fresh air.
Brought Shiny back to the vet to check the two red patches on her tummy. It was just some bruising and one of the patches has already faded. She was also given some iron tablets. Shiny ia a very sweet girl and pretty… but I will have to release her in a few days time. Maybe her “owners” will take her back?
Meanwhile Rocky is still very noisy at night keeping me awake most of the time. Just a few more days….
Billy Boy seems closer to the Novena Kittens now. Saw him lick Mango’s head and then playfully nibble on Peaches’ neck.
Shiny
Blk *26 Area 1
Young female, all black, long straight tail
Saw this cat for the first time today… tame, shiny fur, hungry and pregnant!
Placed her in the carrier right away, as I didn’t want to take the risk of losing her… hope to get her sterilised tomorrow.
Shiny is clearly a new abandonee! Such irresponsible people… sigh!
Rocky’s “thumb” is still swollen so I brought him to the vet today… just to make sure It’s not a splinter or something .
There was no splinter but Rocky will have to take antibiotics for another 10 days and at higher dosage… and also something to reduce inflammation.
