A human being is part of the whole
called by us universe,
a part limited in time and space.
He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings
as something separated from the rest,
a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.
This delusion is a kind of prison for us,
restricting us to our personal desires
and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison
by widening our circle of compassion
to embrace all living creatures
and the whole of nature in its beauty.
…with Haz (the Malay Lady of *30). I have already sterilized all her cats, except one mother cat, which had disappeared. The cat later came back and gave birth to another batch of kittens. Why didn’t she tell me earlier that the cat had returned, when I meet her almost every time I feed the cats at *32? The 2 female kittens (from the earlier batch) are now about 6 months old and I agreed to get them done this month. I arranged to meet under her block at 7.30pm that day, as she couldn’t make it any earlier. I waited 15 minutes and then left without even setting up the trap. There were 7 other cats around and it would have been very difficult and time-consuming o trap the right one without some help…and she knew that I had not much time as I had to start my feeding round soon. So I went to *02 area 2 to pick up Lizzy instead.
Az later told Sylvia two different stories as to why she couldn’t make it. Anyway, she could have at least called me, then I could have gone earlier… Sylvia would have helped, too.
Hmmm, am I getting too stressed, too tired, loosing perspective… to get upset over things like that???
Picked up Felix today for tomorrows sterilization slot. He is also a newcomer, but I can tell that he has been out in the streets for some time. I saw him first a few blocks from where I usually feed One-eye Ginger, Beanie and Lizzy. He was very skinny and so hungry…thought that he was a bad boy, a fighter, but looks can be deceiving. Felix is actually a very peaceful person and can get along with the others.
Heard from the Malay Lady (Haz) that her brother saw a cat being hit by a football (some youth were playing at the void deck). He said that the cat died instantly. The description fits Sally…We kept hoping and looking for her but…
Lizzy is the young black-and-white female who turned up at Ginger’s feeding place some time ago. She has been a regular since.
Lucky, a newcomer at Garfy’s place was earlier named Lucy. Only discovered my mistake after he came back from the vet and there was no shaved belly and scar… Well, he was lucky to jump the boys’ queue. Lucky must have been recently abandoned. He was ravenous when he first appeared, but his fur looks clean and shiny and he is very affectionate.
