Nushi dehydrated and low potassium levels
The coughing has improved but she was becoming more and more weak and listless so brought her to Mt Pleasant Hospital today. She will need to have liquid with potassium injected under the skin for 5 days… if she improves then the low potassium levels could have been caused by the new medication if not then may be cancer…
She had her first drip at the hospital today and already looks so much more lively and even ate a little! For the first time in a week she went up on the furniture instead of staying at floor level and sleeping in the cage or under the bed.
I just hope it was the medication…
Injured cat in the letter box
Sms from cleaning supervisor: Please come to blk *26 a cat run in the letter box body with blood.
I called M… and luckily she was just downstairs! So we went together.. not sure what to expect. First we saw the pool of blood behind the letter box then the Persian cat who had jumped into one of the boxes when the postman had opened the back. I quickly went to get my carrier while M watched the cat. M then used some paper to push the cat from the other side of the letter box to make her walk into the carrier.
Brought her to the nearby vet who suspected a fall. He also said that probably one of her front legs and one of her back legs are fractured. Luckily the jaw was not broken. The vet also scanned her and found a microchip. The blood was from the mouth/nose. Brought her home for observation and to decide on the further treatment. She looked alert and could even walk.
Put up notices and then decided to check on the units right above the letter boxes. I found the owner on the 5th floor. Yes, one of their 2 cats was missing… they described the collar and bell correctly but didn’t know that she had a microchip. They said they would bring her for x-ray and necessary treatment. I think both cats are not sterilized… sigh! The other cat is the daughter of the one that fell.
Dog attack or human abuse?
Two deep wounds…. she had one such wound last October and Muddy (same block) had two deep wounds at his neck August last year.
Nushi still coughing
Brought Nushi to the vet today, still coughing… still not eating.
She was diagnosed with bronchitis. The vet changed the antibiotics to Relexine, and also gave meds for the cough and a vit. C injection.
Stoney got a bigger cone
Stoney’s leg looked so bad that I rushed him to the vet on Monday just before closing time. New E-collar, new meds…
Nushi is has been coughing for some time and is eating very little. Giving her Curam and Doxy.
Mango did not eat for 3 days and had diarrhoea…. and later also started coughing. He seems to be getting better but still not eating on his own. He is also on antibiotics.
One-Eye Jack has recovered from flu and has been released.
