Cat still in the tree

SPCA now unable to rescue the cat as she is now even higher up the tree. The owners managed to get a rope over some branches and attached a basket. I guess it did not work as I saw the mattress was still there when I passed by later.

The family seems reluctant to hire a cherry picker, saying it would be the last resort. Hope they don’t wait too long….

Stuck in the tree for 3 days

She is about 8 or 9 meters high up the tree (the white spot above the plastic bag). They tried to get her using the sling but she only climbed higher. They will try again tomorrow…

So much unnecessary suffering because owners don’t mesh… sigh! The same block where another cat fell from 5th floor and then jumped into the letterbox.

Number 20

it’s a male and about 6 weeks old. M found him in a deep drain (in our estate). A cleaner and a passer-by helped in the rescue.

Sick female cats hospitalized

She was sent to the 24 hr Animal hospital last night by the kind Feeding Auntie who had also rescued Yeshe. It seems the feeder first called the caregiver of this area who is in hospital with food poisoning. Later her nephew called me saying that he thinks the cat is dying. The cat who had given birth 4 weeks ago looked weak and very dehydrated but she could still walk slowly towards the water bowl and drink a little. The feeder had not seen her for 3 days and also could not find any kittens. I saw this cat a few weeks ago while helping the caregiver trap another cat for sterilisation. I tried to persuade the feeder to allow the pregnant cat to be sterilised but she was against abortion…

Hope that both caregiver and the cat will get well soon!

Mother and 3 tiny Kittens rescued

Dumped at a multi-storey carpark…

The Auntie who wanted to take in the now lost Floppy offered to foster them. I went down to help trap the mother. Sylvia already had the 3 kittens in her carrier when I arrived. The mother was easily trapped. Then we went back to my place to get the big rabbit cage…which is more spacious than a small cat cage.

The kittens are only a few days old, with eyes still closed.

Later at night Ivy managed to grab the difficult ginger-white male while I was not much help because The Wise One (Yeshe) bit my finger yesterday and it has become a bit infected and painful. This male cat had moved from my area towards Ivy’s… probably because there were still some unsterilised females around. He will be a tipped-ear tomorrow 🙂

Ivy asked me to name him, so his name will be Ivan.

Visited the hospitalized cat today

This cat needs a name…

The wound is healing but noticed that some part of the stitches have opened. They will re-stitch when he goes for the castration. The technician told me to be careful as he had escaped before and he had to get him from upstairs.

Hope the feeder will also come to visit him.

Maggots removed and neck stitched

123 maggots were removed by the technician. The cat is weak but hopefully will make it. He will also be de-flead once he is more stabilised, and later sterilised. The feeder’s nephew kindly offered to settle the medical bill.

Ginger Tom to be sterilised

Tried to trap Noisy Joe today… but not successful. Went to Area 2 trying to get Stoney but the auntie had already fed him. Then the auntie showed me this newbie at *14 Area 2. She managed to get him into the carrier.

The cat with the neck wound was found. The feeder says that halve of the neck has been eaten away by the maggots. Ivy managed to persuade her to bring him to the vet tomorrow… after I offered to settle the bill. I will meet the feeder at the clinic in the morning. Guess the cat will have to be euthanized unless she has been exaggerating about the extend of the injury.

Wish he could have been brought to the vet straight away but the clinic had already closed… and anyway he would have to wait until morning for any surgery because the feeder had fed him.

Really hope his life can still be saved.

Another kitten rescued

Little Gabriel is for adoption

We almost gave up! The grill could not be opened… blocked by a car. He was too scared to play with the string or come for the food. The only way out was through a small opening at the side of the drain.

Then when we moved away some distance he suddenly came out on his own. Ivy quickly covered the entrance to the drain while another lady managed to grab him.

Gave him some food , Nutri-gel and syringed some water while Ivy went to get a carrier. The little fellow is only about 6 weeks old.

A few blocks away was another cat that needed help. He looked quite sick… probably flu. Applied the eye ointment and gave him Nutri-gel and also syringed some water as he was dehydrated. Ivy will bring him to the vet tomorrow.

The lady who helped grab Gabriel told us about a cat with a neck wound invested by maggots. Ivy will try to trap him tomorrow.

Little Peekaboo rescued

On the way to the factory we met some children who told us about a kitten in a drain. So we went to have a look on the way back.

We checked all the grills until I saw him in an opening at the side of the big drain. He was very shy and it was not easy to get him into the carrier. Penny was standing in the drain holding the carrier (with some tuna inside) against the small opening where he was hiding. It took quite a while before she managed to grab him.

Peekaboo calmed down after a while and now he is comfortably lying in the hammock and letting me rub his tummy 🙂

5 kittens rescued

…and just in time! Penny found another small kitten a few days ago but the rest have been adopted so she gave me the go-ahead to bring in the 5 kittens.

Didn’t see the two from the coffee shop the day before… only their mother was around. Then yesterday night finally found them curled up at the kerb of the car park… very pittyful! The orange-white one looks a bit dull and poor appetite….probably getting sick. Brought them to Penny and then went back for the 3 black-and -white kittens at the construction site.

Will wait a week or two for the milk to dry up and then get the two mothers sterilised.

Shanghai Lady trying to save injured cat

The lady from Shanghai called me at midnight yesterday. She had found a very sick and skinny cat in Area 2. Some problem with the jaws…unable to eat. She suspects abuse. I went down with my carrier and while we waited for the taxi she asked again about the 4 missing cats at Blk *21… and sadly shakes her head.

I think she had stayed with the sick cat for 3 hours before she met the Auntie who gave her my number, because she didn’t know any vet and didn’t have a carrier. The Shanghai Lady hardly speaks any English but somehow we manage to communicate. … She offered to pay for all the medical expenses for this Singapore stray cat… no worries about the midnight charges.

The cat was an older cat and in such bad shape that the vet advised to put him to sleep. He is not suffering anymore now but I feel sad to think how long he had been wandering around unable to eat until finally a Lady from Shanghai cared enough to bring him to the vet…

She even arranged with me to follow up and discharge him in case he was still hospitalized when she returns to Shanghai on Tuesday…
